The Experience of Michelson-Morley
This experience was made with the objective to prove the existence of ether which is what would give support to the propagation of the electromagnetic waves, in other words, the light. In this experience, if it had the ether, the velocity of light in direction of rotation or translation of earth would be different from that one perpendicular traveled by these motions. Michelson and Morley concluded that its objective was reached due to both velocities are identical proving that ether does not exist.
However, the physicists gave a wrong interpretation for these results. They concluded that photons are not influenced by rotation or translation motions of earth. This wrong interpretation started giving an experimental support to the 2nd postulate of Einstein’s relativity.
This interpretation still being utilized as an irrefutable prove which is asserted by physics when they assure that velocity of light c is not influenced by the velocity of its source. In fact, if we take into consideration the conditions which the experience of Michelson – Morley was done it is true. Both Michelson – Morley and the interfometer that is the equipment used in this experience, were located on earth and we have already seen that to an observer on earth the light emitted by sources on the earth has always velocity c in any direction, an it does not depends on the velocity of earth.
Furthermore, it is impossible an observer on the earth knows about his velocities and the influence of these velocities over photons emitted by sources located on earth, unless by deductions. These influences will be just known by an observer standing still out of earth who would know his velocities.
The big mistake of the interpretation gave to the experience of Michelson – Morley was to consider, to an observer on a stopped referential in relation to the earth, that velocity of light that was emitted by sources located on earth is not influenced by velocities of the earth.
Thus, we cannot affirm as it was done by Einstein that the observer João who is standing still on the railroad saw that the velocity of the train did not influence on the velocity of photon emitted by a lamp that is on the Maria referential inside the train. However, we can affirm that, to Maria who thought that was standing still inside the train and also was seeing João come across with real velocity v, the velocity of photon is always c in any direction and it is not influenced by her velocity v
The mistake in the Einstein’s relativity was that he considered that the velocities of photons were not influenced by the velocity v of the train. To exemplify this topic, let’s imagine a tennis player who plays on a deck of a huge ship.

We can presume that he is Guga. As soon as the ball shall be threw by him it will be seen by any passenger in the ship, in any direction, with velocity v = 200 Km/h, independent of the velocity v of the ship on the sea. It does not exist any inventor that would be able to invent an equipment (interfometer) that located inside the ship would have the capacity to detect the influence that the velocity V of the ship exerts on the velocity v of the ball. However, an observer inside a small boat, which is stopped on the sea, who sees a ship traveling with velocity V = 100 Km/h, would see:
- If Guga´s sack was in the same direction of the velocity V of the ship, the ball would have velocity v = 300 Km/h.
- If Guga´s sack was in an opposite direction of the velocity V of the ship, the velocity would be v = 100 Km/h.
The physics will not accept the analogy between those examples that we have already mentioned. They will assure that the tennis ball contains mass but the photon does not. However, Science affirms that both light and photons are energy and also that energy is E = mc2, in other words, the energy contains mass. Furthermore, in the last years, it considers the existence of a dark energy which is able to generate gravity. Therefore, Science creates these contradictions due to it wants to reinforce the Einstein’s relativity which affirms that photon does not contain mass. The Science does not even think about the inconsistency of these information.
